WORKSHOPS & SEMINARS

Our workshops are theoretically sound, grounded in decades of practice, and designed to be immediately usable and fun.
The Collaboration Imperative
This advanced, comprehensive workshop, co-developed with Gil Steil, integrates what we’ve learned over the past twenty years about designing large group meetings (or summits) to elicit the collaboration response, and makes it accessible and learnable. We now know a great deal about what it takes to have people get beyond individual interests and personal agendas and make decisions based on what is good for the system or for the common good. Using a multi-day format, participants learn the theory, experience the tools and activities, and get experience custom designing a large group, strategic meeting.
"Large Group Meetings was an exceptional learning experience. The design principles presented were powerful in their simplicity and elegance, and highly applicable. The case studies and exercises brilliantly integrated the content. The facilitation support provided by Nancy and Gil was superb. The principles of Large Group Design should be written on the white board of Learning and OD leaders in organizations everywhere." Kathleen McInerney Kane
Practical Tools for Changing the Conversation in Our Organizations
This workshop provides leaders with user-friendly activities for making their meetings more participatory, engaging and productive. This is not about icebreakers. Instead, participants experience and learn activities for collaboratively developing shared context, creating databases and analyzing information, and formulating recommendations.
Facilitator as Designer: Practical Tools to Advance Group Development and Collaboration
This workshop, co-developed with Lonnie Weiss, introduces the eight core principles that allow facilitators to be exquisitely intentional about designing meetings that help groups mature and operate collaboratively, minimizing dependence on the facilitator. Participants learn specific activities for the beginning, middle and culmination of meetings.
Strategic Thinking
Participants come to the seminar with a real initiative, project, or idea they want to bring to life. They experience strategic thinking as they use the System Coherence Framework for Change Leadership to scope out their initiatives and consider critical planning issues.
